Birte Ravn
It is with great sorrow and deep regret that we have to inform you that our dear friend and colleague Birte Ravn passed away on December 5, 2022.
Birte was our founder. She started the Ernape network in 1994 and was chair of the network until 2005. She was very much committed to schools as democratic communities. She has contributed greatly to theory regarding the cultural dimensions of school-family-community partnerships and was critical regarding the pedagogical, humanistic and economic rationalities for school-family-community partnerships.
Her work has inspired many of us. She was particularly influential in Denmark and the rest of Scandinavia, where she also led the Nornape-network for many years.
We are grateful for all the work that Birte has done for the Ernape network. She started it from scratch and helped the network grow and become a solid international research community.
We will remember Birte as a warm and committed member of our research community and we will miss her deeply.
